Before setting out shopping for all your bridal lingerie then we recommend you make a short list just to ensure there is nothing that you will forget or buy extra of. Separate it into three parts and then go on from there.

Wedding day - After you have bought your wedding dress then you need to decide on what bridal lingerie you need. A corset or bra is not needed if there is one already built into the dress. Tradition states that you have to have a garter and you need to decide whether you will be wearing stocking and suspenders or going bare leg. Colors should also blend with your dress so no outrageous pinks if you have a white dress.

Wedding night – This is very special as it will be the first night together as husband and wife. You need something sexy and enticing to excite your man. If you decide to go for a provocative corset then don’t forget to buy a sexy baby doll as well because sleeping in a corset is really uncomfortable. You could of course sleep in your birthday suit though!

For night time lingerie then you need to tailor these around your evening wear. A trend these days is to wear a corset as outer wear, just ensure that the time and place is appropriate. Knowing which lingerie to choose for your wedding can be hard and many brides in the past have made horrendous mistakes that have either shown or left them feeling very uncomfortable on their special day. The simple fact is that your lingerie should be chosen after you have bought your dress, not before and not at the same time either.

Instead of limiting yourself to one piece be open to all the other lingerie alternatives on offer. A corset may not necessary be the right look for you, a body shaper will provide more of an effect. A lot of dresses will already have the corset and bra already built into it however if not then be careful to consider the right bra and more importantly one that fits.

I also strongly recommend wearing the bridal lingerie for a trial run before hand. I bought a strapless bra for my wedding dress and more or less spent the whole day trying to keep it up. Other bras such as the stick on adhesive bras can loosen with sweat, so as you can see a trial run is essential.

Buying bridal lingerie can be a bit daunting if you are over the average size 14. Everywhere you go it seems that everyones idea of a bride is tall, skinny and able to squeeze into the most tiniest of lingerie. This is where About Curves are trying to fill in the gap. They originally started in 2001 however recently are having a major image over haul and it seems to be working.
